Parotitis - Kanpeda

Symptoms
1. Annadrava Sula (Gastric ulcer): This type of abdominal pain occurs due to the ulcer in the stomach. in this disease patient may have pain immediately after taking the meal or during the digestion and the pain is not relieved after taking Pathya, Apathya or meal but the pain may be relieved by vomiting.

2. Pariama Sula (Duodenal Ulcer): This type of pain is caused by the ulcer in the duodenum. in this disease the pain occurs after digestion of food i.e. 3 to 4 hours of taking the meal. its other symptoms are burning sensation, nausea and vomiting.


Treatment
in this disease patient may vomit blood and in that case patient should be hospitalized immediately.

Single Drugs

1. Fluid obtained from the green fruit of Narikela (coconut) 100 to 500 ml. is to be taken three times a day.

2. Fresh juice (Svarasa) obtained from the root of Satavari (wild asparagus) 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken twice a day.

3. Powdered fruit rind ofAmalaki (embelic myrobalan) 3 to 6 g. is to be taken with 100 ml. milk twice a day.

4. Powdered root of Satavari (wild asparagus) 3 to 6 g. is to be taken with 100 ml. milk twice a day.

5. The decoction prepared from the whole plant of Bhrngaraja 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken two times a day.

Compound Preparations

1. Sulavajrai Vai: 1 to 2 pills, to be taken 10 g. honey or 50 ml. warm water to relieve the pain when it is intolerable.

2. Kamadudha Rasa: 250 mg. is to be taken with sufficient honey to make a paste twice a day.

3. SutaSekhara Rasa: 120 mg. is to be taken with honey three times a day.

4. Kapardika Bhasma: 250 mg. is to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. milk twice a day.

5. Narikela Lavaa Ksara: 1 g. is to be taken with water two times a day.

6. Dhatri Lauha: 1 to 2 pills, to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey or 100 to 250 ml. milk, twice a day.

7. Triphala Lauha: 1 to 2 pills, to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey or 100 to 250 ml. milk, twice a day.

8. The treatment described for Amlapitta may also be given.

Pathya

it is better to keep the patient on milk diet. Unfried preparations of Godhuma (wheat), milk and casein products, banana, small and repeated liquid meals are the useful articles of diet for the patients ofAmaSaya Vraa.

Apathya

Dravya having Amla, Kau and Lavaa Rasa, fried and spicy food, spirituous liquor, rice and Suhi (dried ginger) are harmful for the patients ofAmaSaya Vraa. Sitting up at night, exposure to sun, excessive intercourse, suppression of natural urges, grief and anger should be avoided.
