Haemoptysis - Chati Me Ghava
SymptomsBleeding from the upper channels like nose, mouth etc. or from lower channels like anus, urinary passage, female genital organ etc. or petechial haemorrhage, aesthania, cough, dyspnoea, fever, loss of appetite, indigestion, vomiting, thirst, burning sensation, nervousness, frequent motions, pallor and unconsciousness are the main signs and symptom of Raktapitta.
TreatmentSingle Drugs
1. Juice of Daima (pomegranate) flower-7 to 14 ml. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey thrice a day.
2. Powdered fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) 3 to 6 g. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey twice a day.
3. Powder of Suddha Laksa (purified lac) 3 to 6 g. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey thrice a day.
4. Mocarasa (gum of silk cotton tree) 3 to 6 g. to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. milk twice a day.
Simple Preparations
1. Green Udumbara (fig-gular) ground and wrapped in Poalika, sqeezed to yield a Svarasa (juice) 7 to 14 ml., to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey twice a day.
2. Take 100 to 200 ml. Dugdha Siddha in Draksa (raisin or grape fruit) with powdered flower of Priyangu twice a day.
3. Dugdha Siddha with almond of Priyala (cuddapah) or with root of Yasimadhu (glycyrrhiza) or with fruit of Goksura (small caltrop) or with root of Satavari (wild asparagus) 100 to 200 ml. to be taken twice a day.
4. Ghrta Siddha with decoction of whole plant of Vasa and Kalka (paste) of flower of Vasa to be taken in 12 to 24 g. dose twice a day.
5. Decoction of equal part of fruit of Dhanyaka (coriander), fruit rind ofAmalaki (embelic myrobalan), Draksa (raisin or grape fruit), leaf of Vasa, whole plant of Parpaa (five leaved fumitory) 14 to 28 ml. to be taken thrice a day.
6. Decoction of equal part of leaf of Vasa, Draksa (raisin or grape fruit), fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) 14 to 28 ml. to be taken with honey and Sarkara (raw sugar) twice a day.
7. Powder of wood of Rakta Candana (red sandal), root of Yasimadhu (glycyrrhiza) 3 to 6 g. to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. milk thrice a day.
8. Powder of equal part of wood of Rakta Candana (red sandal), Draksa (raisin or grape fruit), leaf of Vasa (vasaka), fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) 3 to 6 g. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey twice a day.
9. Fine powder of Suddha Laksa (purified lac) 4 g. to be taken with honey and Sarkara (raw sugar) and water twice a day.
10. Peya prepared from Laghu Pacamula to be taken thrice a day.
11. Vaa Patra Srnga (banyan tender leaf of bud), contused with milk to be taken in 3 to 6 g. dose thrice a day.
Compound Preparations
1. Bola Parpai: 500 mg. to 1.5 g. to be taken with Vasavaleha 6 to 12 g. twice a day. it is specially useful in Guda Rakta Srava (bleeding from the anus).
2. Kusmaavaleha: 12 to 24 g. to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. milk twice a day.
3. USirasava: 14 to 28 ml. to be taken with equal part of water after meal thrice a day.
External Applications
1. Nasya of Svarasa (juice) of flower of Daima (pomegranate), or ofAmra Majja (mango seed decorticated), or of whole plant of Durva (doob), or bulb of Palau (onion).
A. Specific treatment for bleeding from the urinary passage
1. Dugdha Siddha with root of Satavari (wild asparagus), fruit of Goksura (small caltrops) 100 to 200 ml. to be taken thrice a day.
2. Eladi Guika: 2 to 4 Vai to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. water twice a day.
B. Specific treatment for blood vomiting
Single Drugs
1. Juice of Durva (doob grass) 7 to 14 ml. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey thrice a day.
2. Leaf juice of Vasa (vasaka) 7 to 14 ml. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey and 5 to 10 g. Sarkara (raw sugar) twice a day.
3. Powdered fruit of Krsa Jiraka (caraway) 6 g. to be taken with 12 g. Sarkara (raw sugar) thrice a day.
4. Powdered fruit rind ofAmalaki (chebulic myrobalan) 2 to 4 g. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey thrice a day.
5. Fruit rind ofAmalaki (embelic myrobalan) fried in ghee to be chewed, frequently.
Simple Preparations
1. Powder of Suddha Laksa (purified lac), leaf of Vasa (vasaka), root of Yasimadhu (glycyrrhiza) 2 parts each and KarkaaSrngi (crabs claw), YaSada Bhasma, Abhraka Bhasma 1 part each to be taken in 1 to 2 g. dose with 100 to 250 ml. milk thrice a day.
2. Powder of Laja (pop of paddy) 12 to 24 g. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey thrice a day.
3. Siddha Jala prepared with powder of root of Yasimadhu (glycyrrhiza), Suddha Laksa (purified lac), fruit of Parusaka (asiatic grewia), to be taken as required.
4. Svara Gairika (ochre) 120 to 500 mg. To be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey or 5 to 10 g. Sarkara (raw sugar) thrice a day.
5. Kalka of wood of Candana (sandal) in water 12 to 24 g. to be taken with powdered root of Yasimadhu (glycyrrhiza) and 4 to 6 g. honey twice a day.
Compound Preparations
1. Candanadi Cura: 3 to 6 g. to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. milk thrice a day.
2. Powdered and purified Dugdhapasaa (talc) to be taken in 120 to 500 mg. dose with 7 to 14 ml. juice of Durva (doob grass) twice a day.
Pathya
Tikta Dravya, Puraa Sali (old rice), Taula (rice), seeds of Yava (barley), Mudga (phaseolus bean), Masura (lentil), Caaka (gram),Ahaki (pigeon pea) and Makusha (aconite leaved kidney bean); Sarkara (raw sugar), honey, products of sugar cane, Satadhauta Ghrta; Kadali-Phala (banana), fruit of Priyala (cuddapah almond), fruit and leaf of Paola (a variety of small cucumber-snake gourd), Vetasa Suga (shoot of willow), leaf of Vasa (vasaka), fruit of Srngaaka (water chest-nut), whole plant of Kiratatikta (chirata), stem of Kamala (lotus), leaves of Nimba, fruits of Daima (pomegranate), Narikela (coconut), Kapittha (wood apple) and Draksa (raisin or grape fruit); Abhyanga (massage), Lepa (plaster), Snana (bath) are useful for the patient of Raktapitta.
Apathya
Amla, Lavaa and Kau Rasa; seeds of Kulattha (dolichos bean) and Tila (sesame); Simbi Phala (legumes); leaf of Sarsapa (mustard), fruit of Vartaki (brinjal), curd, bulb of Rasona (garlic) are harmful for the patient of Raktapitta.
