Symptoms
indigestion, lassitude, heaviness in the body, retention of gases and constipation or loose motions are the common signs and symptoms of Ajira.


Treatment
Single Drugs

1. Suhi (dried ginger) Siddha Jala to be taken several times a day.

2. Powdered fruit rind of Haritaki (small chebuylic myrobalan black variety) -1 to 3 g., to be taken with equal quantity of Sarkara (raw sugar), two times a day before meal.

3. Powdered Suhi (dried ginger) 1 to 3 g., to be taken with Gua (jaggery) three times day.

Simple Preparations

1. Prepare a paste (Kalka) from the equal parts of fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan), Sarkara (raw sugar) and Draksa (grape fruit or raisin); its 3 to 6 g. is to be taken with honey two times a day before meal.

2. The powder of equal parts of Saindhava (rock salt), fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan), fruit of Pippali (long pepper), root of Citraka (lead-wort) 1 g., to be taken with warm water two times a day after meal.

3. Prepare Kvatha (decoction) from the equal parts of Lavanga (clove), fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) and Saindhava (rock salt). its 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken two times a day before meal.

4. Kvatha of equal parts of fruit of Dhanyaka (coriander) and Suhi (dried ginger) 14 to 28 ml., to be taken two times a day before meal.

Compound Preparations

1. Agnimukha Cura: 1 to 3 g., to be taken two times a day after meal.

2. Hingvasaka Cura: 1 to 2 g., to be taken with warm water, two times a day before or with meal.

3. Tekarajamarica Cura: 330 to 660 mg., to be taken with honey first in the morning on empty stomach followed by two such doses at the interval of 8 hours.

4. Sankha Bhasma or Kapardika Bhasma or Pravala Bhasma 0.25 to 0.5 g., to be taken with Nimbu Svarasa (lemon juice) two times a day before meal.

5. Agnitui Vai: 1 to 2 Vai, to be taken with warm water two times a day before meal.

6. Rasonadi Vai: 1 to 2 Vai, to be taken with warm water 2 to 3 times a day after meal.

7. Sankha Vai: 1 to 2 Vai, to be taken with Sudha Jala (lime water) two times a day after meal.

External Applications

1. Prepare a hot Lepa (poultice) from equal parts of Hingu (asafoetida), Trikau, Saindhava (rock salt) by adding sufficient quantity of hot water. it may be applied on the abdomen when it is warm to relieve abdominal discomfort.

2. Make a warm Lepa (poultice) from equal parts of powder of Hingu (asafoetida), Marica (black pepper) and Saindhava (rock salt) by adding sufficient quantity of hot water. it may be applied on the abdomen.
