Symptoms
Acute pain, swelling, pus discharge through the external openings and dysfunctions of the affected organ are the common signs and symptoms ofAntarika Vidradhi. The specific signs and symptoms caused by the involvement of a particular organ are as follows:

1. Guda Vidradhi: internal abscess in the anal region causes obstruction to flatus.

2. Basti Vidradhi (Abscess of Urinary Bladder and Prostate): in this condition patient passes less urine with difficulty.

3. Nabhi Vidradhi (internal Abscess of Umbilical Region: it causes hiccough and bloting (aopa).

4. Kuksi Vidradhi (internal Abscess of Flanks): it causes flatulence.

5. Vanksaa Vidradhi (internal Abscess of Groin): it causes pain and immobilily of back and lumber region.

6. Vrkka Vidradhi (Perinephric Abscess): it causes rigidity of the sides

7. Pliha Vidradhi (Splenic Abscess): it causes obstruction to breathing.

8. Yakrt-Vidradhi (Liver Abscess): it causes difficulty in breathing.


Treatment
Single Drugs

1. Powder of root of Paha (false pareira) 5 to 10 g., to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. Taulodaka (rice washing) twice a day.

2. Svarasa (fresh juice) of root of Sigru (horse-radish) 25 ml., to be taken with 12 g. honey thrice a day.

Simple Preparations

1. Decoction prepared from equal parts of root of Sveta Punarnava (white pigweed) and bark of Varua, to be taken in 14 to 28 ml. dose with 12 g. honey, twice a day.

2. Decoction of bark of Sigru (horse-radish), to be taken twice a day in 14 to 28 ml. dose after adding to it 0.25 g. Suddha Hingu (purified asafoetida) and 1 g. Saindhava (rock-salt).

Compound Preparations

1. Jatyadi Ghrta: 12 to 24 g., to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.

2. Varuadi Ghrta: 12 to 24 g., to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.

3. Kacanara Guggulu: 1 to 2 Vai, to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.

4. Triphaladi Guggulu: 1 to 2 Vai, to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.

5. Kajjali: 125 to 250 mg., to be taken twice a day with 7 to 14 ml. Svarasa (fresh juice) of bark of Sigru (horse-radish).

External Applications

1. Place a leaf of Eraa (castor) at the site of the affected part and give fomentation by placing a warm iron Darvi (ladle).

2. A poultice prepared from the seeds of Krsa Tila (black sesame), Atasi (linseed), Gaura Sarsapa (white mustard) and Eraa (castor) in equal parts to be applied at the site of affected part while tolerable warm.

Pathya

Old Sali variety of rice, soup of Mudga (phaseolus bean); bulb of Rasona (garlic), ghee, oil; seeds of Syama (a variety of millet) and Kulattha (dolichos bean); fruit and leaf of Sigru (horse radish), fruits of Karavellaka (bitter gourd) and Paola (a variety of small cucumber-snake gourd); and leaf of Punarnava (pigweed) are useful for the patient ofAntarika Vidaradhi.

Apathya

Lavaa, Kau, Amla-Rasa Dravya, Pisamaya Dravya (superfine powder of cereals and pulses), Navina Dhanya (freshly harvested cereals), Masa (black phaseolus bean), Tila (sesame seed), Gua (jaggery) and curd should be avoided.
