Lead poisoning - Sise Ka Visa

Symptoms
Excessive smoothness or roughness and discoouration of skin, excessive or absence of sweat, pain like needling, burning sensation, itching, numbness, patches with loss of sensation, increase in the size of wound inspite of treatment, fatigue and exhaustion are the prodromal symptoms of Kusha.


Treatment
Single Drugs

1. Svarasa (juice) of fresh stem of Guuci- 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken twice a day.

2. Powdered fruit of Pippali (long pepper)- 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with Gomutra (cow's urine) twice a day.

3. Powdered root of Citraka (leadwort) 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with Gomutra (cow's urine) twice a day.

4. Powdered seed of Bakuci - 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with 7-14 ml. juice ofArdraka (ginger) twice a day.

5. Kalka (paste) prepared from the rhizome of Haridra (turmeric) 12 to 24 g. is to be taken with 50 to 100 ml. Gomutra (cow's urine) twice a day.

Simple Preparations

1. Decoction of bark of Khadira (khair) is to be taken in 14 to 28 ml. dose twice a day.

2. Use of Khadira (khair) for preparing food, drinks, and water for bath.

3. Paca-Nimba-Tvak Cura 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with water twice a day.

4. Gomutra Siddha fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) 3 to 6 g. is to be taken twice a day.

5. Khadira Sara (catechu) 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with the Svarasa (juice) of fresh leaf of Nimba 14 to 28 ml. twice a day.

6. Khadira Sar (catechu) 1 g. and powdered Seed of Bakuci - 1 g. is to be taken with Svarasa (juice) of fresh leaf of Nimba- 14 to 28 ml., twice a day.

Compound Preparations

1. Triphala Cura: 3 to 6 g. is to be taken with juice of fresh leaf of Nimba 14 to 28 ml. twice a day.

2. Laghu Majishadi Kvatha: 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken with the powdered root-bark of Trivrt (indian turpeth)- 1 g., twice a day.

3. Brhad Majishadi Kvatha: 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken twice a day.

4. Rasa Maikya: 30 to 120 mg., is to be taken with 1 g. powdered seed of Bakuci, thrice a day (with caution).

5.Arogyavardhani vai: 1 g. is to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.

6. Pacatikta Ghrta: 14 to 28 g. is to be taken twice a day.

7. Pacatikta Ghrta Guggulu: 14 to 28 g. is to be taken twice a day.

8. Khadirarisha: 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken with equal quantity of water twice a day after meal.

External Applications

1. Oil obtained from the seeds of Tuvaraka or Karaja is to be used for massage.

2. The decoction prepared from Kalka (paste) of bark of Karavira (oleander) and mixed in Sarsapa Taila (mustard oil) is to be used for massage.

3. Take Suddha Gandhaka (sulphur) 25 g. Yavaksara 10 g. and Sarsapa Taila (mustard oil) 50 to 100 ml. mix together and use for massage.

4. Mix suddha Gandhaka (sulphur) 25 g. in 50 to 100 ml. of Sarsapa Taila (mustard oil), expose to sun for three days and use for massage.

5. Prepare Lepa from the powder of equal part of leaves ofAragvadha (cassia) and Vasa (vasaka), seeds of Cakramarda (foetid cassia) and Karaja

6. Lepa in water of equal part of seed of Cakramarda (foetid cassia), fruit of Sveta Jiraka (cumin) and root of SudarSana is to be applied on the affected part.

7. Lepa of equal part of seeds of Bakuci, Kasamarda (negro coffee), and Cakramarda (foetid cassia), rhizome of Haridra (turmeric) and Saindhava (rock salt) prepared in curd is to be applied on the affected part.

8. Lepa of equal part of Marica (black pepper) and Sindura prepared in buffalo's butter is to be applied on the affected part.

9. Blood letting may be done under the guidance of a physician.

For better results give medicine after performing Vamana every fortnight and Virecana every month which are to be performed by the physician.

Pathya

Tikta Dravya, Puraa Yava (old oat), Godhuma (wheat). Sali ( a variety of rice), seeds of Mudga (phaseolus bean),Ahaki (pegion pea) and Masura (Lentil); old ghee, Sarsapa Taila (Mustered oil), Tila Taila (gingelly oil), Nimba Taila (neem oil), Hingota Taila, Aguru Taila; urine of cow, camel, ass and buffalow; Mrgamada (Kasturi, musk); fruits of Karkaa (cucumber), TrapuSa (a variety of cucumber) and Paola (fruit of a variety of small cucumber- snake gourd); Vetas Suga (cane shoot), fruit and leaf of Kakamaci, leaf of Karaja (indian bic); bulb of Rasona (garlic); NagakeSara, KeSara (saffron), and fruit of Tala (palmyra) are the useful articles of diet for the patient of Kusha.

Apathya

Amla and Guru Dravya; Navina Anna (freshly harvested grains); Masa (black phaseolus bean); Mulaka (radish); Taila (oil), milk, curd; products of sugarcane, Gua (jaggery); incompatible items of food, Madya (wine) are harmful for the patient of Kusha. Salt restricted diet should be given to the patient.

Movement in sun, irregular food habits, suppression of call of nature, day sleep, sexual intercourse should be avoided. Svedana is contraindicated for the patient of Kusha.
