Pterygium - Tiryak Drsi

Symptoms
Rajayaksma is a wasting disease characterized by low grade fever, loss of appetite, night sweating and loss of weight. in all cases of unexplained fever, one of the cause may be tuberculosis. its other symptoms depend upon the organ of the body involved.

Lung is the most commonly involved organ and in that case patient may have the symptoms like evening rise of temperature, cough, haemoptysis, hoarseness of voice, night sweating, loss of appetite, loss of weight, pain in scapular region and ribs and burning sensation in sole and palm.


Treatment
Single Drugs

1. The use of Aja Dugdha, Ghrta and Masa (goats milk ghee and meat) is very beneficial for the patient of Rajayaksma.

2. Take butter with honey and 12 to 24 g. Sarkara (raw sugar) according to the appetite of the patient.

3. Powdered whole plant of Kakajangha-1 to 3 g., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

4. Powder of Suddha Laksa (purified lac) 1 to 3 g., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

5. Powdered Nagabala 1 to 3 g., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

6. Powdered fruit of Pippali 1 g., to be taken with 12 to 24 g. ghee and 250 ml. Godugdha (cows milk) three times a day.

Simple Preparations

1. Juice (Svarasa) of fresh leaf of Vasa 14 to 28 ml., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

2. Powder of root of Yasimadhu (glycyrrhiza) 3 to 6 g. and wood of Rakta Candana (red sandal) 3 to 6 g., to be taken with 250 ml. milk three times a day.

3. Powder of equal part of fruits of Kharjura (date), Pippali (long pepper), Draksa (raisin) and KarkaaSrngi (crabs claw), fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) and whole plant of Duralabha (camels thorn) 3 to 6 g., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

4. Kalka (paste) of equal part of fruits of Kharjura (date) and Draksa (raisin) 12 to 24 g. is to be taken with 1 g. powdered fruit of Pippali, 5 to 10 g. Sarkara (raw sugar) and honey, three times a day.

5. Powder of equal part of fruit of Pippali (long pepper), roots of ASvagandha and Yasimadhu (glycyrrhiza) and seed of Kapikacchu (cowage) 3 to 6 g., to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. goats milk twice a day.

6. Powder of equal part of fruit of Pippali (long pepper), Draksa (raisin) and Sarkara (raw sugar) 3 to 6 g., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

7. Powder of equal part of root of ASvagandha (winter cherry), fruit of Pippali (long pepper) and Sarkara (raw sugar) 3 to 6 g., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

8. Powder of equal part of Triphala, fruit of Pippali (long pepper), root of Mustaka (motha), nut of Srngaaka (water chestnut) and Sarkara (raw sugar) 3 to 6 g., to be taken with honey three time a day.

9. Powder of equal part of roots of Ksira-Kakoli, Puskara (costus) and Sai (zedoary), seed of Tulasi (sacred basil), Sarkara (raw sugar) and Gua (jaggery) 3 to 6 g., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey and 5 to 10 g. Ghrta (ghee) three times a day.

10. Use of meat of pigeon, deer and goat (dried powder) 12 to 24 g., to be taken with 250 ml. goats milk.

11. Decoction of equal part of fruit Dhanyaka (coriander) and Pippali (long pepper), seed of Daima (pomegranate) and Suhi (dried ginger) 14 to 28 ml., to be taken three times a day.

12. Decoction of equal part of roots of ASvagandha (winter cherry), Satavari (wild asparagus), Atibala (country mallow), Puskara (costus) and Ativisa (indian atees), DaSamula, stem of Guuci, and leaf of Vasa 14 to 28 ml., to be taken three times a day.

13. Decoction of stem of Guuci 14 to 28 ml., to be taken with 1 g. powdered fruit of Pippali (long pepper) three times a day.

14. Decoction of equal part of fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) andAmalaki (embelic myrobalan), fruit pulp ofAragvadha (cassia) and rhizome of Kauki 14 to 28 ml., to be taken three times a day. This preparation is useful when patient is having constipation

Compound Preparations

1. Eladi Cura: 1 to 3 g., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

2. Sitopaladi Cura: 1 to 3 g., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

3. Talisadi Cura: 1 to 3 g., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

4. Maha-Laksmi Vilasa Rasa: 1 to 2 Vai, to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

5. Jayamagala Rasa: 60 to 250 mg., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

6. Caturmukha Rasa: 60 to 250 mg., to be taken with 5 to 10 mg., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

7. Candramrta Rasa: 120 to 250 mg., to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

8. Svara-Vasanta-Malati (Laghu): 1 to 2 Vai, to be taken with 5 to 10 g. honey three times a day.

9. AmrtapraSa: 12 to 24 g., to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. warm milk three times a day.

10. Vasavaleha: 12 to 24 g., to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. warm milk three times a day.

11. CyavanapraSavaleha: 12 to 24 g., to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. warm milk three times a day.

12. Draksasava or Draksarisa: 14 to 28 ml., to be taken with equal quantity of water twice a day after meal.

13. Dhanvantara Guika: 1 g., to be taken three times a day with 14 to 28 ml. decoction of Jiraka.

if the patient does not respond to the treatment refer to a specialist.

Pathya

Sali (red variety of rice), Godhuma (wheat), seeds of Yava (barley) and Mudga (phascolus bean); fruits of Daima (pomegranate),Amalaki (embelic myrobalan) andAmra (mango); Aja Dugdha (goats milk), Bala Siddha Dugdha, Suvasita Jala (scented water), Madya (Wine with caution); Aja or Mrga Masa (goats or deers meat), Karkaa Masa (crabs meat) and meat of wild animals are the useful articles of diet for the patient of Raja-Yaksma.

Apathya

Food prepared in Taila (oil), Vrntaka (brinjal), fruits of Karavellaka (bitter gourd), Bilva (bael) and Ajaji are harmful for the patient of Rajayaksma. Sexual intercourse, day sleep and anger should be avoided.
