Symptoms
The cardinal symptom of kidney disorders is alteration in the urine. Other important symptoms are pallor of the body and oedema particularly around the eyelids. Pain and symptoms connected with the passing of urine viz. increased frequency of micturation, incontinence of urine, retention of urine, suppression or the passage of large quantity of urine or the passage of blood with urine may also be present. in the chronic stage toxic symptoms appear and patient may become unconscious.


Treatment
Single Drugs

1. Svarasa (juice) or Guuci - 14 to 28 ml. to be taken twice a day.

2. Svarasa (juice) whole plant of Punarnava (pigweed) 14 to 28 ml. to be taken twice a day.

Simple Preparations

1. Decoction of seed of Kulattha (dolichos bcan)-14 to 28 ml. to be taken twice a day.

2. Decoction of fruit of Goksura (small caltrops)-14 to 28 ml. to be taken twice a day.

3. Decoction of root of Pasaabheda (saxifrage)-14 to 28 ml. to be taken twice a day.

4. Decoction of bark of Varua-14 to 28 ml. to be taken twice a day.

Compound Preparations

1. Suddha Silajatu: 1 g. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey twice a day.

2. MaheSvara Vai: 60 to 120 mg. to be taken 4 to 6 g. honey twice a day.

3. Siva Guika: 1 to 2 Vai to be taken with warm water twice a day.

4. Punarnava-Maura: 2 to 4 Vai to be taken with warm water twice a day.

5. Goksuradi Guggulu: 1 to 2 Vai to be taken with warm water twice a day.

Pathya and Apathya

Preparations of mercury are totally contraindicated in this disease. intake of salt should be restricted. Constipation should be avoided. Pathya and Apathya mentioned for Sotha should also be followed for the patient of Vrkka Roga.
