Hoarseness - Gala Baihana
SymptomsBitter or acidic eructation, burning sensation in throat and heart area, nausea, loss of appetite, indigestion, prostration and heaviness in the body are the main signs and symptoms of Amlapitta.
TreatmentSingle Drugs
1. Water obtained from the green fruit of Narikela (coconut) 100 to 500 ml., to be taken twice a day.
2. Powdered fruit rind ofAmalaki (embelic myrobalan) 3 to 6 g., to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. milk twice a day.
Simple Preparations
1. Mix Lajasaktu, Sarkara (raw sugar) and honey in equal quantity. its 100 to 200 g. is to be taken twice a day.
3. Take powdered fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) and whole plant of Bhrngaraja in equal quantity. its 3 to 6 g. is to be taken 12 g. of Gua (jaggery) and warm water twice a day.
4. Take dried rhizome of Haridra (turmeric), leaf of Paola and fruit rind ofAmalaki (embelie myrobalan) in equal parts and make the powder. its 3 to 6 g. is to be taken with the fresh juice ofArdraka (ginger) and 30 drops of papaya latex twice a day.
5. Prepare decoction from the equal parts of stem of Guuci, fruit of Nimba, leaf of Paola (a variety of small cucumber) and Triphala. its 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken twice a day.
6. Prepare decoction of equal parts of Suhi (dried ginger), fruit of Dhanyaka (coriander) and leaf of Paola (a variety of small cucumber). its 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken twice a day.
7. Prepare decoction of equal parts of leaves of Paola (a variety of small cucumber) and Vasa (vasaka), Suhi (dried ginger), stem of Guuci and rhizome of Kauki. its 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey twice a day.
Compound Preparations
1. Avipattikara Cura: 3 to 6 g. is to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.
2. DaSanga Kvatha: 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey twice a day.
3. Dhatri Loha: 500 mg. to 1 g. is to be taken with sufficient ghee to make a paste, twice a day.
4. Kamadudha Rasa: 250 to 500 mg. is to be taken with sufficient honey to make a paste twice a day.
5. Lilavilasa Rasa: 60 to 250 mg. is to be taken with sufficient honey to make a paste twice a day.
6. SutaSekhara Rasa: 250 to 500 mg. is to be taken with sufficient honey to make a paste twice a day.
7. Sankha Bhasma: 250 to 500 mg. is to be taken with sufficient honey to make a paste twice a day.
8. Ksara-Raja: 1 to 2 g. is to be taken with 5 to 10 ml. fresh juice of Nimbu (lemon) and 6 g. Sarkara (raw sugar) twice a day.
9. Narikela Khaa: 6 to 12 g. is to be taken with 100 to 250 ml. milk twice a day.
Pathya
it is better to keep the patient on milk diet for sometime. Other beneficial articles for the patients of Amlapitta are old rice of Sali variety, Godhuma (wheat), Yava (barley), Mudga (pahseolus bean), Saktu, Sarkara (raw sugar); honey, milk, cold water; fruits of Karavellaka (bitter gourd), Kadali (banana), Kapittha (wood apple), Daima (pomegranate) andAmalaki (embelic myrobalan); fruit and leaf of Paola (a variety of small cucumber), leaf of Vastuka (a variety of chenopodium), and Vetasa Suga (roots of cane).
Apathya
Guru and amla Dravya, Navina Anna (newly harvested cereals), incompatible items of food; seeds of Tila (seasame), Masa (black phaseolus bean) and Kulattha (a kind of pulse); items prepared in oil; curd, goats milk, and Madya (wine) are harmful for the patient of Amlapitta.
