KoshaSrita kamala (Medical Jaundice)
Loss of appetite, fatigue, weakness, constipation, indigestion, nausea and passing of reddish-yellow (Raktapita) urine are the specific signs and symptoms of KoshaSrita Kamala.
SakhaSrita Kamala (Surgical Jaundice)
Pain in abdomen, loss of appetite, weakness, discomfort in right upper abdomen, marked loss of weight, distension of abdomen with rumbling noises in the intestine, yellow coloured urine and whitish stool are the specific signs and symptoms of SakhaSrita Kamala (surgical jaundice).
TreatmentSakhaSrita Kamala may require surgical treatment for which a specialist should be consulted. The treatment of KoshaSrita Kamala (medical jaundice) is as follow:
Single Drugs
1. Svarasa (juice) obtained from the fresh stem of Guuci 14 ml. is to be taken with 14 g. honey twice a day.
2. Svarasa (juice) of fresh bark of Daruharidra (barberry) 14 ml. is to be taken with 14 g. honey twice a day.
3. Svarasa (juice) obtained from the fresh leaf of Nimba 12 to 24 ml. is to be taken with 6 to 12 g. honey twice a day.
4. Powdered stem of Daruharidra (barberry) 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with honey twice a day.
5. Juice of Nimbu (lemon) 12 to 24 ml. is to be taken twice a day.
6. Fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) 3 g. is to be taken with honey in sufficient quantity to make the paste, twice a day.
7. Powdered seed of Rakta indravarui (red colocynth) 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with 1 to 3 g. Sarkara (raw sugar) and water twice a day.
Simple Preparations
1. Decoction prepared from the stem of Guuci 14 to 28 ml is to be taken twice a day.
2. Decoction prepared from the bark of Daruharidra (barberry) 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken twice a day.
3. Powdered Triphala 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with equal part of honey, twice a day.
4. Powdered Trikau 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with honey twice a day.
5. Make powder of purified Narasara (ammonium chloride) 180 mg., rhizome of Kauki 120 mg. and fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan) 3 g. it is to be taken with water twice a day.
6. Make powder of equal part of fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan), rhizome of Haridra (turmeric) and Lauha Bhasma. its 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with honey in sufficient quantity to make the paste, twice a day after meal.
7. Prepare decoction from the equal part of Triphala, stem of Guuci, leaf of Vasa, rhizome of Kauki, whole plant of Kiratatikta (chirata) and bark of Nimba. its 14 to 28 ml. is to be taken with 6 to 12 g. honey, twice a day.
Compound Preparations
1.Arogyavardhani Vai: 1 g. is to be taken with equal part of honey twice a day.
2. Maura Bhasma: 1 to 3 g. is to be taken with honey twice a day.
3. Cicadi Lehyam: 1 to 3 g. is to be taken half and hour before meal with water, two times a day.
4. Kamala-Hara Rasa: 1 g. is to be taken with Takra (butter milk) three times a day.
External Applications
instil 2 drops of Svarasa (Juice) obtained from the the fresh leaf or flower of Droapuspi in the eyes.
Pathya
Sali variety of rice, Godhuma (wheat), seeds of Yava (barley),Ahaki (pigeon pea), Mudga (phaseolus bean) and Masura (lentil); fruits of Paola (a variety of small cucumber) and Kadali (banana), leaf of Punarnava (pigweed), Mulaka (radish) and sugarcane juice are the useful articles of diet for the patient of Kamala. in the initial state rest in the bed is advised.
Apathya
Guru Dravya, ghee, fried and difficult to digest articles of food are harmful for the patient of Kamala. Exercise, excessive walking and anger should be avoided.
