Pthysis or tuberculosis - Ksaya

Symptoms
Erratic fever with delirium, pain in the body, yawning, horripilation, loss of taste, aversion to cold and liking for warmth, grinding of teeth, dry eructations, sleeplessness, flatulance and rigidity of the body are the signs and symptoms of Vatika Sutika Jvara.


Treatment
Simple Preparations

1. Decoction of Brhat Pacamula-14 to 28 ml. to be taken with 1 g Saindhava (rock-salt), twice a day.

2. Decoction of equal part of root of Rasna (indian groundsel), wood of Sarala (pine), root Yasimadhu (glycyrrhiza)-14 to 28 ml. to be taken twice a day.

3. Decoction of tuber of Vidari (giant potato)-14 to 28 ml. to be taken with 1 g. Saindhava (rock-salt), twice a day.

4. Decoction of equal part of root of Brhati (yellow berried night shade), Bharangi, Eraa (castor) and Rasna (indian groundsel), and wood of Sarala (pine) and Devadaru (deodar)-14 to 28 ml. to be taken twice a day.

5. Decoction of equal part of whole plant of Marubaka, Sarngesha (black night shade) and Paha (false pareira), seed of Karaja (indian beach), indrayava (kurchi seed), leaf of Nimba, fruit pulp ofAragvadha (cassia)-14 to 28 ml. to be taken with honey twice a day.

6. The Siddha Jala prepared with root of Bilva (bael) to be used for drinking.

7. Sita Kasaya of equal part of roots of Mustaka (motha), Sariva (indian sarsaparilla), USira (khas), Yasimadhu (glycyrrhiza) and Saptapara, bark of Lodhra, wood of Padmaka (wild cherry)-28 to 56 ml. to be taken with 1 g. powdered rhizome of Kauki twice a day.

8. Decoction of equal part of Laghu Paca Mula, NagakeSara (iron wood tree stamen), roots of KaSeru, Sariva (indian sarsaparilla), and USira (khas), whole plant of Parpaa (five leaved fumitory), and fruit of Dhanyaka (coriander)-14 to 28 ml. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey and 5 to 10 g. Sarkara (raw sugar) twice a day.

External Applications

1. Dhupa of root of Kusha (koot), Guggulu and ghee or wood of Devadaru (deodar).

2. Avagahana (tub bath) with water containing decoction of roots of Syonaka, Rasna (indian groundsel), Agnimantha, Eraa (castor), and Gambhari, whole plant of Apamarga (prickly chaff) and leaves of Vasa (vasaka) and Bhanga (hemp) mixed with Kaji.

3. Hot Lepa (poultice), of equal part of Caturjataka, fruit of Kankola (cubeb), wood of Aguru (eagle), Lavanga (clove), Kuakuma (saffron) in Kaji. it is useful for shivering.
