Relapsing fever -

Symptoms
Urinary retention (inability to urinate) may be caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia, multiple sclerosis, vaginal childbirth, and certain drugs


Treatment
Single Drugs

1. Powdered rhizome of PaSaabheda (saxifrage)-3 to 6 g. to be taken with water thrice a day.

2. Powdered rhizome of Rudrajaa (spikenard) - 1 to 3 g. to be taken with Takra (butter milk) twice a day.

3. Decoction of fruit of Goksuru -14 to 28 ml. to be taken thrice a day.

Simple Preparations

1. Curodaka (lime water) - 14 to 28 ml. to be taken with Dharosa Dugdha (freshly milched milk) - 250 ml. twice a day.

2. Decoction of equal part of roots of Nala (nodding reed), KaSa (kans), KuSa (sacred grass) and iksu (sugarcane root) - 14 to 28 ml. to be taken when cold with 5 to 10 g. Sarkara (raw sugar) thrice a day.

3. Decoction of Krsa Musali - 14 to 28 ml. to be taken with 5 ml. Tila Taila (gingelly oil), 5 g. ghee and 100 to 250 ml. milk thrice a day.

4. DaSamula Kvatha: 14 to 28 ml. to be taken with 500 mg. to 1 g. Suddha Silajatu and 12 g. Sarkara (raw sugar) thrice a day.

5. Suddha Silajatu - 0.5 to 1.0 g. to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey and 5 to 10 g. Sarkara (raw sugar) thrice a day.

6. Ksira Siddha with Tra Paca Mula, fruit of Goksuru (small caltrops), roots of Eraa (castor) and Satavari (wild asparagus) - 100 to 200 ml. to be taken with Gua (jaggery) and ghee thrice a day.

7. Powder of equal part of Suryaksara (salt petre), fruit of Kankola (cubeb), Ela (cardamom seed) and root of Amlapari (rhubarb) - 1 to 3 g. to be taken with milk thrice a day.

Pathya

Puraa Sali (old rice), Masa (black phaseolus bean), fruits of Kusmaa (a variety of pumpkin gourd-white gourd), Narikela (green coconut), Puga (areca nut), fruit of Kharjura (date), milk, curd and massage are useful for the patient of Mutraghata.

Apathya

Ruksa, Vidahi and Visambhi Dravyas, fruit of Karira (caper) are harmful for the patient of Mutraghata. Suppression of calls of nature, sexual intercourse and walking should be avoided.
