Tuberculosis of bone/osteomyelitis - Asthi Susirata

Symptoms
Arbuda is a disease in which elevated, round, deep, rooted, large and immovable mass develops in any part of the body. in the early stage it is less painful, grows slowly and generally does not suppurate. it may be classified into Vatika, Paittika, Kaphaja, Raktaja, Masaja and Medoja according to Dosa and tissue of the body involved. Further the tumours are classified into two groups viz. benign and malignant. Benign tumours are less harmful while malignant tumours require immediate treatment, otherwise may lead to death of the patient.


Treatment
Compound Preparations

1. Mahamajishadi Kvatha: 14 to 28 ml., to be taken twice a day.

2. Pacatikta Ghrta Guggulu: 2 to 4 pills, to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.

3. KaiSora Guggulu: 2 to 4 pills, to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.

4. Kacanara Guggulu: 2 to 4 pills, to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.

5. Sarivadyasava: 14 to 28 ml., to be taken twice a day with equal quantity of water after meal.

External Applications

1. Apply Svarasa (fresh juice) obtained from the leaves of Upodika (indian spinach) over the growth and also bandage with its leaves.

2. Rub the affected part with any of the following drugs:

(i). Powdered bark of Kakodumbara (gular fig)

(ii). Leaf of Gojihva.

(iii). Leaf of Saka.

(iv). Oil obtained from Nirgui.

3. Grind the leaf of Upodika (indian spinach) in Kaji, Takra (butter milk) and hot water by adding Saindhava (rock salt), and apply it as poultice on the affected part.

4. A Lepa prepared from the powder of Rala (oleo-resin of Sala), flower of Priyangu, Rakta Candana (red sandalwood), bark of Lodhra and root of Madhuyasi (glycyrrhiza) in honey, is to be applied on the affected part.

5. A Lepa prepared from the fruit of Kadali (banana), Salmali Tvak Bhasma, Tusa (Dhanya) and Sankha Cura in the fresh juice of leaf of Upodika (indian spinach), is to be applied on the affected part.

6. A Lepa prepared from the rhizome of Mulaka (radish) and Sankha Bhasma is to be applied on the affected part.

Pathya

Old Sali variety of rice; seeds of Yava (barley), Kodrava and Mudga (phaseolus bean) and leaves of Paola (a variety of small cucumber and Sigru (horse-radish) are useful for the patient of Arbuda.

Apathya

Guru and Amla Dravya; Masa (black phaseolus), Masa (meat), fruit of Paola (a variety of small cucumber), cream, curd, casein and cane sugar products, and sweet dishes are harmful for the patient of Arbuda.
