Conjunctivitis - akho Ki Jhilli Ka Pradaha

Symptoms
1.AmajaAnaha: if the disease is due to the accumulation ofAma, then the patient may have the symptoms like thirst, burning sensation in the head, pain in abdomen, suppression of eructation and coryza.

2. PurisajaAnaha: in this condition retention of faeces and urine, acute pain, fainting, vomiting of faecal matter and oedema are found.


Treatment
Single Drugs

1. Fruit pulp ofAragvadha (cassia) 5 g., to be taken with 50 ml. water and 5 to 10 g., Sarkara (raw sugar) once a day.

2. Fruit rind of Haritaki (small chebulic myrobalan) 5 g., to be taken with 0.5 g. Lavaa (salt) at bed time.

Simple Preparations

1. Take purified and fried Hingu (asafoetida), Amlavetasa, fruit of Yavani (ptychotis), Saindhava (rock-salt) and seed of MiSreya (fennel) in equal parts, and make the powder. its 2 to 6 g. is to be taken with 5 ml. fresh juice of Nimbu (lemon) twice a day.

Compound Preparations

1. Triphala Cura: 2 to 6., to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.

2. Rasonadi Vai: 1 to 2 pills, to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.

3. Haritaki Khaa: 3 to 6 g., to be taken with 50 ml. warm water twice a day.

4. Sukumara Kumara Ghrta: 6 to 12 g., to be taken with 250 ml. milk twice a day.

Local Applications

1. Lepa of Hingu (asafoetida), to be applied around the umbilicus.

2. Lepa prepared from equal part of Saura-Ksara (salt petre), fruit rind ofAmalaki (embelic myrobalan), Narasara (ammonium chloride) and seed of Krsa Tila (black sesame) is to be applied around the umbilicus.

Pathya and Apathya

Pathya and Apathya prescribed for the patient ofAdhmana may also be followed for the patient ofAnaha.
