Enlargement of spleen -

Symptoms
Aversion to food, dyspepsia, thirst, loss of taste, retention of flatus, constipation, drowsiness, lassitude, mild fever, cough, loss of weight, pain in joint and distension of abdomen with appearance of blue or yellow coloured veins. The liver lies in the right side and spleen lies in the left side and their enlargement as the case may be occur in the respective side of the abdomen.


Treatment
Single Drugs

1. Svarasa (juice) of Kalamegha, to be taken with honey three times a day.

2. Fruit-juice of ripeAmra (mango), to be taken with honey three times a day.

3. Juice of Mulaka (radish), to be taken with Yavaksara and honey three times a day.

4. Kalka (paste) of Sarpunkha, to be taken with Takra (butter milk) thrice a day.

5. Powdered rhizome of Kauki, to be taken with Sarkara (raw sugar) three times a day.

Simple Preparations

1. Powder of equal part of fruit of Pippali (long pepper) and fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan), and 1/4th of Via Lavaa (a variety of salt), to be taken with warm water thrice a day.

2. Powder of equal part of bark of Rohitaka and fruit rind of Haritaki (chebulic myrobalan), to be taken with Gomutra (cows urine) and water three times a day.

3. Decoction of bark of Sigru, to be taken with powder of Saindhava (rock salt) and root of Citraka (leadwort) thrice a day.

Compound Preparations

1. Yakrdari Lauha: it is to be taken thrice a day.

2. Kumaryasava: it is to be taken with equal quantity of water twice a day after feed.

3. Abhayarisa: to be taken with equal quantity of water twice a day after feed.

4. Rohitakarisa: to be taken with equal quantity of water twice a day after feed.
